EVERYONE
Gene Eric Mann
Another pitiful recording, this one featuring my first attempt at rapping – if ya want to call it that!
EVERYONE (The Empty Stage)
Everyone – they look at me; they wonder who I am
They want to know if I’m for real but I don’t give a damn
Everyone – they laugh at me and some throw stones my way
They want to chase me off the stage but now I’m here to stay
Everyone – they turn their heads; they ponder what I’ve done
They’d like to know who let me in for I’m another one
Everyone – they burn inside and wish to kick my ass
They’d like to slice me into chunks with shards of hearts of glass
They shatter and they scatter and soon they fade away
They splinter and they winter in, come their judgment day
From father to son the world spins on
But the day’s half done for everyone
Everyone – they stare at me; they wonder why I try
Don’t want to know that I’m in shock with visions in my eyes
Everyone – they turn around and face the empty stage
Don’t care to know the bard is gone – he’s turned another page
They were laughing, I was crying
While our hungry world was dieing
Who has pity for this sorrow?
We are fading from tomorrow!
They were hating, I was singing
As a frosty wind was stinging
Has their sleeping eye awakened?
Everyone has been forsaken!
Hearts were frozen, mine was breaking
While our bitter world was aching
Who can see beneath their guidling?
Now the bard has left the buiding
Hecklers heckling, patrons groaning
Through the season of our gloaming
Can you see the curtain falling?
Curfew’s looming, watchmen calling!
