Whip It
Jeff Gordon
This is for the Movie Title Challenge - I was randomly assigned Whip It. Of course the first thing I thought of was Devo (love that track). Not familiar with this film and only briefly looked up the plot, which this lyric has nothing to do with. Just wanted to get a song done and out of the gate so here it is. After almost completing the thing I realized an interesting take might have been to do the verses about cooking and “whipping” something up. Oh well. Apologies for the slight “crackling” in the audio - working something out in my DAW at the moment.
Lyric:
V1:
Lost somewhere in time and place
A yearning for some open space
A clear and blue cloudless sky
Something new perhaps to try
In the backyard of your mind
Seeds of courage grow like a vine
But when you head out down the street
You won’t let go and trust your feet
CH:
You gotta Whip It
Whip It into shape
You gotta Whip It
Whip It into shape
If you want to get out of
This rut you’re in
It’s a simple decision to make
You can begin again
V2:
Like a baby on the floor
Crawling towards that open door
Eager for the great unknown
An open mind down to the bone
That’s the place we all should be
Free and full of curiosity
Moving forward day by day
With the sandbox of the world to play
CH:
You gotta Whip It
Whip It into shape
You gotta Whip It
Whip It into shape
If you want to get out of
This rut you’re in
It’s a simple decision to make
You can begin again
Begin again
Begin again
