Sweet Machine

In a parallel universe by late 1968 the band began to become more solo in their writing. One of the final tracks of the Telethon album shows the soul numbing social and cultural norms of grinding out a living while also trying to remain positive and appreciative. The answer is not just blowing in the wind but a tornado anxious thoughts about true courage.

Sweet Machine

Half awake in my office chair
Mill the path, till I no longer care

Hey Nadine I’ve finally seen
What your letter means
Always lurking forever working
In the sweet machine

All is well

Another round from Rich and Connor
Here’s to home
And poker faces who never honor
Feelings shown

Hey Nadine I finally see
What you letter means
Always lurking forever working
In the sweet machine

And don’t tell me you lonely
Till your free

Half asleep in bar room chatter
Talk of heaven and corporate ladders

Half light , low light, twilight , alright, street light , glow light , good night , sleep tight
