A Cold Rebel

You saw the darkness in my heart,
And came running through the night.
My soul was lost in the depths of this world,
Desires had stolen my sight.

You knew that I would never let go,
Still You gave Your life for me.
A freedom I could never have known,
Yet Your love, Lord, lifted me.

To love me knowing I turned from You?
What kind of love is this, Lord—
To chase me though I ran from truth?

You turned a heart of stone to a grateful cloud,
Let Your mercy rain and heal the ground.
You turned a cold rebel to a child redeemed,
Filled my heart with joy — now I believe.

When the world was teaching me to hate,
You came and changed my fate.
You did it all with Your light.

When the world said, “Fight with the sword,”
You said, “Stand firm in My Word,”

Now every scar becomes a sign,
Of the grace that conquered mine.
