Don't Touch Me
If I’m being kind to myself, I’ll say that I wrote this in a “through-composed” style. Truth is it probably required another verse etc., to nudge the song’s story along and provide some semblance of structure. Instead, I was enjoying myself adding yet more layers of soundery.
The title’s cribbed from Bill Nelson’s “Don’t Touch Me (I’m Electric)” which I’d been listening to. There’s little resemblance between this and Bill’s song. I’m disappointed too. The title’s stuck in any case.
The song’s largely synth based – primarily Cubase stock e.g. Amped Elektra, glocks and xylophones. I gated the bass until it unexpectedly clipped out some notes! Vocals are half-man, half-synth; with some filtery modulation applied.
Lyrics
Chime, sparrow like
While you rip at my wing, ouch!
Snaps like a stick, brittle dry
Spring of torment
Can you see me
’neath the forearm protection
Fly over cliffs
Must avoid at all costs: know that
Again
