In the early 1990s, I was trying to start an independent record company. Desert Rat Productions. It would feature some of the great musicians I was meeting out in the desert. I met two women singer songwriters, M.J. Walker and Melissa Crabtree. Definite desert rats, sea wilderness guides, and great singer songwriters. Late one night they told me their story. They were lovers, and their families rejected them. They also rejected their wilderness lifestyle, living in a truck, running rivers, all that stuff.
They wandered on and I never recorded them.Big disappointment. They were better than the Indigo Girls! Melissa got Lyme disease, struggled in Sante Fe, and disappeared in the Rio Grande River..she has never been found. I lost track of MJ.
My wife Pauline leads the vocals.
