Can't Shake This
Robert James
Song idea for the 2024 RPM Challenge number 19 becomes finished song number five.
Dynamics, am I right? Why yes, yes I am. that secret to good song writing that I always fail to do… and sort of still failed to do here even though the change in dynamics between the verse and the chorus is literally the whole point of this song.
I kinda like this one. As of now it might be my favorite song of this year’s bunch.
The guitar tracks (and there are a ton of them) are all Les Paul Custom through the direct outputs of both a Fender Bassbreaker 15 and a Vox MV50 Clean. The pedals on the cleanish rhythm guitars are an Earthquaker Devices The Depths into a Klon KTR into a Seymour Duncan Vapor Trails. The heavy rhythm guitars are the Kon KTR into a Keeley D&M Drive. The leads are a Real McCoy Customs RMC10 wah wah into a Wren and Cuff Tall Font Russian into a Klon KTR into a Seymour Duncan Vapor Trails. On the quieter sections I just rolled off the volume on the guitar a bit.
Chorus
Can’t shake this, I can’t shake this
Can’t fake it, I can’t fake it
Can’t commit, I can’t commit
Can’t admit, I can’t admit
Verse 1 & 3
Everything I want to do
Comes right down to you
Every thought that could come true
Have to follow through
Verse 2
Tell me how it has to be
Tell me what you think
Everything that we can see
Every single link
Bridge
Following through
Falling for you
