Disguise
Robert James
2024 RPM Challenge song idea number eight becomes finished song number nine.
I usually place songs into one of three buckets as I finish mixing them. The A-list bucket is songs that are good enough to make the final album. The B-list is songs that might be good enough. The dropped bucket is self explanatory. This one is going into the B-list bucket but it’s on the border of the A-list. I am so confused. I like the hook but I hate hate hate hate hate the lead guitars. Ugh.
The rhythm guitars are a Les Paul Custom and the leads are an ES-335 Pro. The amps for all guitar tracks are a Fender Bassbreaker 15 and a Vox MV50, both running through their speaker emulators. The pedal chain for the rhythm tracks is a Klon KTR into a Keeley D&M Drive into a Seymour Duncan Vapor Trails. The chain for the leads is a Real McCoy Customs RMC10 into a Wren and Cuff Tall Font Russian into the Klon KTR into the Seymour Duncan Vapor Trails.
Verse 1 & 3
call it one in a million
I’ve seen it before
So I have to admit it
I can’t take much more
Chorus
the fire in your eyes
can see through my disguise
no chance at compromise
It comes as no surprise
Verse 2
I’m eternally searching
for the best way out
I am constantly working
On the right account
Outro
Looking after me
It’s all for free
There’s no other way
It’s here to stay
