Don't Pretend
Robert James
Idea number four for the 2024 RPM Challenge becomes finished song number seven.
I thought this was going to be a good one. I was digging the riff under the chorus. Nope. This one turned out lame and boring. Next!
The rhythm guitars are my Les Paul Custom. The lead is my ES-335 Pro. The amps are a Fender Bassbreaker 15 and a Vox MV50, both with direct outs and cab emulation. The pedal chain for the rhythm guitars is a Wren and Cuff Tall Font Russian into a Klon KTR into a Seymour Duncan Vapor Trails. The leads are the same with the addition of an MXR Phase 95 at the start of the chain.
Chorus
Don’t pretend you know the way
Don’t expect you’re here to stay
Verse 1
So if you know you know
That’s just the way it goes
Come by and take a look
Call me an open book
Verse 2
I can’t believe it’s true
I don’t believe in you
There’s nothing else to say
Act now do not delay
Outtro
Let’s try to take it slow
It’s only there for show
