Embrace
Robert James
Today is New Years Eve. Less than six hours from now it will be 2024 in the Eastern United States. Right at the last minute, I was able to sneak in a song for the Record Every Month Challenge.
It’s not a good song, but I sort of feel like it’s a decent first draft. Meaning, a little more work and it might be all right.
There are two new songs this month and they are the first songs played on my number one guitar, which just got a refret. I was seriously afraid that getting the frets replaced would spoil the guitar for me, but so far I am very happy.
Rhythm tracks are my Les Paul Custom into an Earthquaker Devices The Depths into a Klon KTR into an Analog Man King of Tone into a Fender Deluxe Reverb. The leads are the same guitar into a Real McCoy Custom RMC10 into a Way Huge Russian Pickle into the Klon KTR into an MXR Carbon Copy Mini into a Fender Bassbreaker 15’s direct out.
Verse 1
even in the best of times
something will go wrong
Always risk the undermine
Always play along
Chorus
Embrace the underground
Come face the lost and found
Verse 2 and 3
If you read the signs ahead
you could reach the end
If you make it round the bend
you could find a friend
Break
I’d rather play pretend
Then miss out on the end
