Face in the Windows
Robert James
I waited until RPM Challenge song #20 before I used a 12-bar blues. This was a guitar noodle that happened when I finished everything I had planned to work on that day but wasn’t quite ready to stop playing. I like that feeling. The lyrics are another ghost story. This time about a guy who climbed Mt Washington to prepare a camp for some people who were coming up the next day. When the group arrived they found him inside the cupboard under the sink, clutching an axe. It seems some spooks had come for him the night before. The guitars are all Gibson SG into a Fender Deluxe Reverb.
Climbed to the top of Mt Washington
prepare the camp for some new tourists
the faces pushing through the windows
Same face in every single one
It cannot be, no
don’t let them take me away
The next day they found him
He’s hiding inside the cupboard
barricaded under the sink
an axe to keep himself covered
No idea what happened to him
No clue what went wrong
So many windows
all the same face
So many windows
all the same face
Trying to get inside
Taking my place
It was so terrifying
Had no idea what went on
All through the night he was trapped there
haunting him straight through till dawn
Hiding there till the rescue came
Praying for morning to come
