Halloween
Robert James
This is another Prime Meridian song. I wanna say late 1997 or early 1998. We tended to write songs in bunches, but I don’t think so in this case. If I remember correctly, this one just sort of fell into place somehow. We were noodling around and next thing we knew there was this spooky song. That’s why we called it Halloween. I re-learned the song based on an old cassette tape and I think the play back speed was screwed up and the pitch was off. For the life of me I can’t remember if this is in the right key or not.
The guitars are Les Paul.
I went to the window
to look at the rain
I wished it away
but still on it came
I tried to avoid it
hoped it would pass by
But it wouldn’t miss me
it was useless to try
Why can’t I get away
Why can’t I get through today
What mistakes did I make
What is real and what’s fake
I stood in the doorway
the wind in my face
I wanted to step out
get out of this place
the wind blew against me
and froze me in place
unable to move now
I’ll never escape
