No Chance for Me (2024 Version)

Two songs in one! I was working on a couple of things for a Record Every Month challenge a couple of years ago and unconsciously wrote two songs with virtually the same chord changes in their choruses. Once I figured it out I made a gag out of it and used some lyrics across both songs and titled them part one and part two.

Now here we are working on a re-recording project and I thought it would be fun to scotch tape the two songs into a mini medley. I recorded everything together, so it’s the same tracks running all the way through both songs. I think it came out okay. I monkeyed with the transition during the mix. I originally had a two bar thing with just hi hats and a little guitar noodle. I doubled the length without adding any more guitar, and had the guitar that was there play backwards. I think it’s better this way.

The rhythm guitar tracks are my Les Paul Custom through a Klon KTR and a Seymour Duncan Vapor Trails into both a Vox MV50 Clean and a Fender Bassbreaker 15, both amps running direct out into my USB audio interface. The leads are my ES-335 Pro into an MXR Phase 95 (on the second song only) into a Wren and Cuff Tall Font Russian into a Klon KTR into the same two amps as the rhythm parts.
