Another song, another faux trippy ending. I should change the name of the album to Faux Trippy Endings. What do you think?
Lyrically I think this song is just about the last year.
When I recorded the rhythm guitars I was pretty stoked about the sound. I used an overdrive with the gain set really low into a fuzz pedal with the gain all the way down. I thought it sounded cool. When mix time came around… not so much. It just felt kinda blah and lifeless. I try to never put EQ onto my guitar tracks (because I’m a stubborn slob who likes to tell himself that his guitar tracks sound fine straight to tape) but the couple of songs I used this setting on have needed a little cleaning up in the mix. I guess I’m not as awesome a tone chaser as I think I am. Well… I know I am not an awesome tone chaser, but I tell myself I am so that I can justify buying more and more gear. Like ya do.
The guitars are all Gibson ES-335 Pro. The amps are all Vox AC15 and Fender Bassbreaker 15 (I used them both on every take). Pedals for the rhythm parts are a Ryra The Klone into a Wren and Cuff Super Russian. Pedals for leads in the song proper are a crybaby wah into the Ryra into a Malaise Forever Black Lives Matter. The trippy ending is just a Fuzz Face Mini (the Band of Gypsies model). All of the echos and reverb and trippiness were added in the mix.
Verse 1
It seems like I have been through this before
It seems like
Something I go through that I can’t take anymore
That’s all
Chorus
Once more around again
Once more without ending
Verse 2
The physics are somewhat unknown to me
Whatever
The math just won’t work out it just won’t let me see
The truth
