Something From Nothing

2024 50/90 Challenge song idea number 25 becomes finished song number 11.

I kinda like this one, even though I had to dumb down the rhythm guitars a little because I couldn’t play the riff I wrote for the bass guitar in the chorus, and then the difference between the guitars and the bass got a little lost in the mix.

All of the guitars are my Les Paul Custom. All of the guitar tracks used the same two amps, my Fender Bassbreaker 15 and Vox MV50 Clean, both of which ran direct output using built in cabinet emulation. The pedal chains for the rhythm was an Earthquaker Devices The Depths into a Klon KTR into a Keeley D&M Drive. The leads were similar but replaced The Depths with a Real McCoy Customs RMC10 and stuck a Seymour Duncan Vapor Trail at the end of the chain.

Verse 1 and 3
No mistaking
undertaking
some kind of after thought

Promise breaking
overstating
Exactly what you want

Verse 2
No escaping
No relating
What will become of us

Always hinting
never glimpsing
Cave in without a fuss

Chorus
It’s always something
That comes from nothing
No business fighting
What good is crying
