The Thing You Fear the Most (2022 Version)
Robert James
After almost seven years, my stupid little idea to re-record a few songs and improve/update them comes to a glorious end. Finally!
It was supposed to be 8-10 songs and here I am posting #57 (I think). Enough already!
This is what happens when a prog loving nerd tries to flex his prob muscles in GarageBand. Three different time signatures… even though GarageBand doesn’t allow multiple time signatures. The file says it’s running in 4/4 but if you do the math and find the least common denominator and stuff you can figure out a number of bars in 7/8 that fit evenly into some number of bars in 4/4. Then you can do the same for 6/4. Then you can copy Drummer tracks to plain old MIDI tracks so they don’t change when you monkey with the time signature.
Was it worth it? I don’t know. This song is probably more fun to play than to listen too, though the break in the middle is too fast for me to play. I had to fly it in a couple of measures at a time. It’s brutal and I don’t know why I tortured myself that way.
All in all, not a terrible song. I kinda dig it. The mix is a mess, but I kinda dig it.
Guitars are almost all Gibson Les Paul Standard into a Ryra the Klone into a Keeley D&M Drive into a Fender Bassbreaker 15. The leads stuck an Earthquaker Devices The Depths in front of the Ryra. The guitarmonies at the end are just the Les Paul into a Fuzz Face into the Bassbreaker 15.
and still it’s coming
coming to find you
you hear it running
running you down
its always back there
its right behind you
never escape it
it always comes true
Good luck to you
You’ll never get away
Safe trip to you
you have a debt to pay
creeping in corners
watching you’re every move
hiding in shadows
completely disapprove
you think you lost it
but it is always there
you try to see it
but it will disappear
you can never get away from the
thing you fear the most
