They Said the Quiet Part Out Loud

2022 RPM Challenge Song Number 11.

I’m torn over this one. I like the riffs, I like the groove, I like the melody, but I think I hate the lyrics more than I’ve hated any lyric I’ve written in a very, very long time.

This is what I get when I try to write about something rather than just playing the stream of consciousness game and deciding what it’s about after the fact. It’s supposed to be a slimy piece of shit politician bitching because he/she said something generally awful that was shared by the press and now he/she has to back track. They apologize not for the awful thing they said, but for getting caught. I hate that and every time it happens I want to punch them in the face. My fear here is that I didn’t get that to come across. It almost reads like the bitching about the press is justified. No, it’s not. I think the last eight bars tries to make up for any previous lack of understanding of the point, but I don’t think it’s enough.

I like the song but I don’t know if I want to put it on the final RPM album. I am conflicted, I tells ya.

The guitars are all Les Paul Standard and the amps are all Bassbreaker 15. The rhythm tracks used a Keeley Super Phat Mod into a Ryra The Klone and the leads used a Fuzz Face Mini.

Chorus
I’ve mispoken
Been misquoted
again

Verse 1
I open up the papers
I see what they have printed
there isn’t any limit
there is no limit

Verse 2
I have to beg forgiveness
How did I get in this mess
always I have to confess
I have to confess
