Time Off Request
Robert James
This is the first time I’ve ever tried to write a song in 5/8 time. I like this one, but I think there’s too much going on in the mix. For the last couple of years I’ve been in the habit of double tracking all of my vocal parts. While recording this one I came to the command decision that I don’t want to do that anymore. Maybe once in a while, but not for every song. I kept the doubling in the mix but I backed it way off. I don’t know if it made things better or worse.
The rhythm guitars are a Les Paul through a Vox MV50, over using a cheap little Mooer E-Lady flanger pedal. The lead guitars are the Les Paul through a Fender Bassbreaker 15 amp.
Need to take some time out
Need to break a-way
I’m down again
I can’t extend
a helping hand
I can’t explain
Its all the same
you understand
Not up to me
you have to see
I’m sick again
all over town
they’ll hear the sound
I can’t say when
Hold on a little while longer
Good things are bound to come our way
Never again
Never again
