Turn Away from Trouble

2023 50/90 Challenge song idea number 23 is finished song number 16.

Poly rhythms. The drums in the chorus are in 4/4 while the bass and guitars are in 7/8. The vocal melody and the guitar solos… well… they just close their eyes and think of Christmas. This song is okay. Better than most of the crap I’ve cranked out this summer.

The guitars are all Gibson Les Paul Standard. The heavier rhythm part used a Way Huge Russian Pickle into a Klon KTR into a Vox MV50 (direct). The slightly less heavy part is the Klon into an Analog Man King of Tone into the MV50. The lead added a Real McCoy Custom RMC 10 into an MXR Phase 95 into the Klon and the Analog Man into an MXR Carbon Copy Mini into a Fender Deluxe Reverb.

Verse 1
what’s the deal with the way things are
give a thought for the deepest scar
mixing meanings won’t get you far
holding out for a bright distant star

Verse 2 & 3
Never mind what the people say
you can make it some other way
fingers crossed for a better day
Everything is just some shade of grey

Chorus
Turn away from trouble
put your mind at ease
get there on the double
save me if you please

Break
always seems so easy
given up so freely
if it weren’t so creepy
I’d wish you could go with me

Saved!
