Track 5 of “I Am Not Resigned”

The one who loves mourns his beloved. Although filled with grief, he realizes that the ordeal damaged him, and finally sees the level to which it wrought havoc in all parts of his life. Nonetheless, there’s no closure. Part of this is that he didn’t see her set herself on fire the second time, didn’t see a body. And after a couple weeks, he wonders if maybe his beloved is still alive.

After almost 2 months, he receives a letter from his beloved.

It says, “Don’t try to write me back at this address, the letter will not reach me, I will be gone before it gets here. I just wanted to tell you that you are stupid. You don’t know what love is, and were stupid for applying that word to me. You are an idiot. That’s all I wanted to say.”

And thus he replaced his uncertainty with closure. And his heart was filled with joy at knowing his beloved was alive. But not enough joy to try and write her or see her again.
