Reflections of Kane (Poltergeist III)
This was just a bit of fun to write an Iron Maiden like song based on Poltergeist III. There are parts where I think it works, but for the most part its more generic heavy rock song. It’s also about 12 minutes shorter than the Maiden version would be, and I’m no Bruce Dickerson on my best day.
(Verse 1)
From the suburbs grasp she fled, the child sought to break free,
To urban arms, kin’s embrace, a hopeful sanctuary.
But a spectres chilling glare watching from inside the glass
and Innocent young Carol Anne’s, future would mirror her past.
(Verse 2)
Fractures in the looking glass, something wants a release
A mad mans sermon sending icy chills among the peace
In this land of glass illusions, where truth and lies compete,
Lurks the soul of Kane, called back from his defeat.
(Chorus A)
Within the mirrored halls, inside the towers sheen,
Reflections of the poltergeist, wander through a dream.
Run from the unseen spectre of a terror all too real,
Peer into the nightmares that only mirrors can reveal.
(Verse 3)
Trapped within the mirror’s plane, they struggle to break free,
To survive the lurking poltergeist, her purity is the key.
In the face of evil shadows, Carol Anne’s light defies,
Her innocence a talisman, against the mirror’s lies.
(Chorus B)
No respite in the glass labyrinth, where evil takes its toll,
A haunting echo of the past, the tale of fears retold.
Locked within a reflection, a distortion of the light
Unveiling the truth hidden, in the poltergeist’s deceitful rite
(Bridge)
Tangina, the seer, returns with resolve and a plan,
To sever the spectral ties and thwart the haunting clan.
In this desperate struggle, between shadow and light they sway,
Can the beacon of love outshine the relentless gray?
(Chorus C)
As twilight cloaks the city’s steel, the seer unfolds her scheme,
A sacrifice to the spectre, grants the child her release.
Into the light, Kane’s banished, bound for eternity,
Releasing the hold of the mirror, setting hope free.
(Outro)
Dawn breaks over steel and glass, the city breathes once more,
Reflections now but ordinary, the spectral menace no more.
Through the seer’s wisdom, the beast’s fate was foretold,
In the end, love was brighter than the shadows icy hold
