Poop Town
Spice Rack Collective
Heh. :)
The first two verses are about a local town (Decatur, AL) with notorious sewage/drainage and chemical problems. The third verse is about a literal poop train that stunk up north Birmingham and Parrish, AL for weeks at a time within the last couple of years.
Thanks to Mike A. for letting us use his 6-string guitar-necked banjo. :)

Poop Town
Verse 1
Literal shit in the literal streets
20 million gallons in a couple of weeks
Get some rubber boots and hold your nose
Hit the brown stripes with the garden hose
Blame it on the mayor, blame it on the rain
Fifty year floods every other day
Ten year plan, but the budget’s thin
Shitstorm’s comin’, better learn to swim
Chorus
Welcome to our shitty little town
Don’t drink the water if you hang around
Ain’t no telling what’s underground
Seeping and weeping through our shitty little town
Verse 2
Toxic dump underneath a school
Chemical plant said, “Nah, it’s cool”
“No charge, y’all can have the land”
Wink and a nod, yeah, we understand.
Smells a little funny, but at least it’s free
It’s perfectly safe, said the company
But the mayor’s kids won’t be seen
On football fields of the strangest green
Chorus
Welcome to our shitty little town
Don’t drink the water if you hang around
Ain’t no telling what’s underground
Seeping and weeping through our shitty little town
Verse 3
Poop train rollin’ on down the tracks
Jersey said they don’t want it back
It’s not our poop, it’s not our train
Gotta live with it, just the same
“Land application of bio-waste”
Or spraying shit all across the landfill
The guy that owns it made the call
Ain’t seen him around at all.
Chorus
Welcome to our shitty little town
Don’t drink the water if you hang around
Ain’t no telling what’s underground
Seeping and weeping through our shitty little town
Having once lived there and experiencing rain water flooding into my house three different times because the city can't keep their drains cleared, this song really hits home.
One never knows what the finished product of a silly ditty song like this will sound like...but...I thoroughly loved making it & how it turned out. Great job on this one.
