Rebecca's Song
Spice Rack Collective
This time around, Rebecca wrote another lovely poem to share with the group, then went a step further to the vocal mic to perform the piece. She requested the natural sounds of wind and waves as accompaniment, so Kevin sourced some samples from the excellent BBC archives. (Free for non-commercial use…) On a whim, he also added some of Dan’s synth guitar improvisations to see how they worked under the vocals, and was delighted to discover how well some of the changes fit.

Rebecca’s Song
Where, oh where
Did my little heart go?
I’ve looked for my heart
When it broke all apart.
Where, oh where, did it go?
Sometimes I think I see
Little ol’ me
Standing alone in a big open sea
The water comes up to my knees
I’ve looked up high.
I’ve dived down low.
The shadows so deep,
There’s mountains below.
I talk to the fish
I ask if they’ve seen
A little old heart
And it looks just like me.
If you find my heart,
Under the sea,
Or up on an mountain
Beside a tree,
Would you be so kind
As to bring it to me?
I’ve been looking so long
On this wide open sea.
