Gold
This song was inspired by t.v. commercials featuring actor William Devane, who has spent the last few years trying to convince Americans to buy gold.
Lyrics-
The lonely days of summer made me think of you
And I remember good times we have seen
The sky is bright and beautiful
Wish I felt the same
But nothing‘s ever quite the way it seems.
There’s bad news right now on the radio
and somber faces watch my passing car
And as the death toll rises…
thoughts race out to you
and I sure hope you are safe, right where you are.
Remember how it felt for gold to touch your skin?
We’d fill the bathtubs with champagne and jump right in…
It would be nice to live like Kennedy’s again
And everyone would love us
Like they did back then.
I shook with fear until you reached for me
Then suddenly I stood on solid ground…
I love you cause you thought of me when everything went wrong
But I sure miss you like hell
When you are gone.
Remember how it felt for gold to touch your skin?
we’d fill the bathtubs with champagne and jump right in…
It would be nice to live like Kennedy’s again
And everyone would love us
Like they did back then.
Song by Joe Grennon and the wondrous Proods
yeah... buy gold! and silver! I remember those commercials.. all too well... ah the days of good ole TV... this is a really good recording.. The vocals really work against those great guitar sounds. a very good mix for this style... seems perfect to me.
Great!
..like looking through a kaleidoscope..
Again, a very original song brilliantly produced.
Terrific song Proods. I think I can recognize the soundbites from the end...I heard Willy Wonka, George Costanza and a bit from a Droopy cartoon.
This is great ! So wonderful. Excellent work ! My new fav ! The words are so cool !
You guys are having so much fun ALL THE TIME!!! I love the creative pool this great stuff comes out of. "Fill the bathtubs with champagne and jump right in".... A perfect sentiment after a long week. Thanks for the happy Friday soundtrack!
