Ponder Gethsemane
T. Alan Dekker
I had hoped to have this recording done by Good Friday
but ran into all kinds of problems; the biggest of which was the tape
machine used to record the original instrumental tracks no longer
is working. So I made a foundation track using the mix recording.
This means I could not remove the percussion which I think makes
the song a bit overdramatic. In fact, perhaps this should be
re-recorded completely a cappella (with a real choir : )
Originally recorded in 2002, I used a synthesized choir
or a demo - I call it my Martian choir. The problem with using the
Martians is there can be no lyrics. In the interest of meeting my
deadline (or the day after, in this case), rather than starting
completely over I decide to sing the words along with the
original synthesized mix. So, for better or worse, here it is.
As always, please let me know your thoughts about this song concept.
Here are the lyrics:
Gethsemane; cool evening breeze.
There did our Savior plead;
And, there did agree to die for you and me!
Ponder Gethsemane.
Anguish and agony!
His life for you and me.
Gethsemane!
Saved through His probity;
Not by our chivalry
and our futility.
Ransomed, now free.
Calvary!
Nailed to a tree!
There did our Savior hang
Because He agreed to die for you and me.
Very nice Ted.
