Wondrous Cross

I’ve always liked Isaac Watt’s (1674 – 1748) hymn “When I Survey the Wondrous Cross,” but have thought the tune, a Gregorian chant, doesn’t adequately emphasize the words. It occurred to me that it might work well with a blues rhythm and I have for a long time been wanting to record it as such. Not having any blues performance experience it has been difficult for me to play the tracks, so I have been working on it off and on over the past few years. Finally, in time for Holy Week this year, I think I have something.
As is often the case with my uploads, this is a rather rough take. As always, I’m open to and solicit your comments and critique toward an eventual re-recording.
