Saturday night I’m gonna put on a tie
take my truck for a whirl
flow down the road across three county lines
to see my pretty little black-haired girl

Mom will be in the kitchen fixing the chicken
we won’t see her for a while
me and my hon will be out on the lawn
I can already see that girl smile

A little slow dancing, a lot of romancing

Soon half the county come for chicken and show
I’ll have to stop and set up
Doing them things like tuning our strings
till it’s time for the band to get up.
