Elephants Are Far From Stupid

Sort of a lightly jazzy commentary on the intelligence of the pachydermae. Some of these large-eared folks are indeed artistic, and I’ve seen several of them shopping at K-Marts. For handkerchiefs and guest towels it seems. They really clog up the aisles.

Elephants are far from stupid
And quite near being smart
They’re living in the suburbs now
And they’re shopping at K-Mart
Many are artistic
And quite a few play chess
There’s one that lives near Hammersmith
That passed the Mensa test
But they’re not always somber
They know how to have fun
They’re grey, they’re huge, they’re wrinkled
But - damn it – they’re not dumb.
