Burnt Knob a hill in a park where I pretty much grew up. It’s the highest point in the county, and there’s a nice scenic overlook where you can take in the vista of the lovely city (such as it is) and the surrounding suburbs. As a child, my best friends and I played boy stuff (Vikings, cowboys and Indians, soldiers) here, and as driving teens and young adults, we debauched in this park. We knew it as “the top of the park” in those days, and you could drive up there, which we did every weekend. The activity was parking the car, drinking cheap beer, and enjoying dried herbaceous plants, all the while trying to impress girls.
