The Mirror

Title inspired by the symmetrical nature of the piece. The original recording was the sound of striking various parts of a gourd bowl (a round bowl-like thing made by cutting the bottom from a dried gourd of some sort - I don’t know, it was given to me like that) with a pair of wooden sticks. That recording was then copied and overlaid on the original, but in reverse. The copy was then modified by using itself as a template for noise reduction on itself; the resulting very sparse sounds then had the silences between them removed, reducing the original five minute length to a little less than two seconds, and then pitch-shifted down several octaves and stretched back to approximately the original length; this was then also copied and reversed, with all parts then layered onto each other, the result being a mirror image from the central point. Submitted to Sound-In for 10-178/2/2022.

Thanks, Bill. The main reason for giving details of production is so that I can remember what I did later on!
