Middle England (Wanna blow it all to smithereens)
uglifruit
I’m channeling my inner Johnny Cash here, for this quick and dirty demo of a song I wrote for my musical “Lashing Of Ginger Beer”. The lyric is rather more dark than the music might suggest.
All the world is changing
It never stays the same
Everything is progress
And no-one is to blame
You have to keep on moving
If you just want to keep still
If you don’t embrace the future some other critter will
Of all the places I’ve been to
and all the things I’ve seen
Middle England - wanna blow it all to smithereens
You can’t hold back the hourglass
The seasons all still turn
The genie’s out the bottle now
You can’t unlearn all you’ve learned
You have to face tomorrow
If y’all want to survive
’Cos the fittest for the future
Is the one who stays alive
Of all the places I’ve been to
that need their slates wiped clean
Middle England - wanna blow it all to smithereens
Of all the places I’ve been to
That are stuck in their routine
Middle England - is pleasant and it’s green
Middle England - gonna blow it all to smithereens
Great tune! Love the lyrics. I gotta get there to see it before it's blown to smithereens!!
