The Last Gentleman
Dedicated to my grandfather, and not dedicated to a few people… especially a certain one named “bob”.
Lyrics:
the last true gentleman is dead. i’d ask you to care, but you can’t begin to understand what that means. i’d ask you to mourn, but you probably never knew him. if you did, you probably would have taken advantage of his kindness. and he still would have accepted you… because he was a gentle man.
he fought for everyone on the planet except hitler in world war II. he served his country for our freedom for 30 years in the army air corps and the air force.
-The sun sets to a new day
-A darkened world
-A place of gray
-The last gentleman has went away
he dedicated his life to helping everyone around him.
-As I collect hollow sympathy
-From whored out wells of gravity
-My darkness is reflected
-Off this world of vacant propriety
he raised my father to be an upstanding citizen. he taught me there is a better way.
-When they lie to me
-In this new era of decay
-Expecting my blood to stay my hand
-They should no longer expect such things of me
-For I am not a gentle man
he is chivalry. he is honor. he was beyond intelligent and creative. he was gentle. and he is dead.
he is my grandfather.
-The last true gentleman is dead
-Dare not profane his memory
-Or I will come for you
-And I am not a gentle man
-The last true gentleman is dead
-Dare not profane his memory
-Or I will come for you
-And I am not gentle.
Oh bless him. Most heartfelt tribute accompanied by stirring rhythm.
