A true friend and steadfast Englishman was flown in to assist Vinyette on their first entirely self-produced record. Mr. Hawkins’ invaluable help became an embodiment of creative collaboration. He that lent us not only his ears, but his artistic visions of fantasy. These visions now proudly adorn the front en-casings of the ‘Hawkins Sessions’ and emblazon the chests and attire of fellow listeners; Vinyette music enthusiasts.

Music, like a story spoken around the campfire or an imaginatively narrated tale woven bedside by a loving father to the eager youth, is a priceless gift. The hence forth dubbed Hawkins Sessions stand as a defiant attempt to free these stories of musical nature from the shackles of corporate branding. Vinyette are all too pleased to share an audio experience crafted using the slimmest funds and barest essentials in equipment.

Each recording and take was captured at the strangest of hours, against an unwavering backdrop of other bands, deep within their own creative fog. Sounds so immodest that they shook the walls of our graffiti-encrusted, communal studio building, as we each quested for our own unique versions of artistic merit. To stem the bleeding and leaking of mixed musical messages the band (and entrusted Mr. Hawkins) toiled away as the Sun raised and fell upon New York City’s gritty Fashion & Garment district. The band that never slept, did not so much as yawn whilst wailing sirens, the crush of jammed traffic and other quintessential sounds were captured from 7 floors below. These flavors all imprint an ethereal ambient atmosphere throughout.

Above all, what was captured during the fateful ‘Hawkins Sessions’ was a message of sharing and compassion. This is a story of what happens when in spite of hardships, our very own artistic brothers and sisters, fellow citizens, simply give without expecting anything in return. Vinyette in turn hope to show their sincere gratitude by continuing this tradition.

Saved!
