Along the Way

 We wandered the streets between sunset and dawn
 Our demons all come and gone
 Down to the graveyard to dance and to play
 And to toast those who fell along the way

 Angel she stood where she always would stand
 And saw what she always would see
 Things that don’t stay,  that all fade away
 And fall like the leaves  along the way

             The autumn wind rose like a ghost wrapped in night
             Whirling on through the alleys of light
             While above, those on high still whispered their lies
             Of all those who fell along the way

 Are we to believe all those dead and decayed?
 Can life be so sold out and  grey?
 Or does it move on from night into dawn
 Beyond those who lie along the way?

             Sharing a vision of new dawns to come
             And a  free way from which we can't stray
             Building a life up from sorrow and strife
             And continuing on, along the way…
