WHERE YOU ARE – Wayne Webster
I’m following this road
But it don’t know where to go
Or how to get to where you are
By Southern Cross or Northern Star
The sky is bright and cold
With all the stars that it can hold
But the night’s about to break
With all these memories untold
Like rain light shining on the city streets
Beyond the doorways where we chance to meet
Right from the very start
We always followed roads with heart
But somehow we got lost
And only found ourselves apart
And so I’m out here on my own
Just another heart without a home
Time out of mind
And all these memories turned to stone
Still guarding a plundered chest of grief
And chasing after one more phantom thief
Yes, I held you for a while
By your eyes and by your smile
But now even these have fled
Somewhere beyond the years and miles
And so I’m standing at this bar
A million miles from where you are
And half way to fooling myself
That I am better off by far
Than those who try and hold you where you are
And always lose you to your wandering star
I’m following this road
But it don’t know where to go
Or how to get to where you are
By Southern Cross or Northern Star
The sky is bright and cold
With all the stars that it can hold
But the night’s about to break
With all these memories untold
Like rain light shining on the city streets
Beyond the doorways where we chance to meet
