Like The Tide
Will Stelter
I,
Like the Tide,
Have been breathing with the moon overhead,
While the world lay all silent in stead.
The rocks peaking out on the bed,
The anchors all out in the dredge.
My eyes,
See too slight,
With a heavy brow, I look towards the sun,
My words seem to come undone.
They crumble in the heat of the south,
Yeah they fragment in the teeth of my mouth.
I thought, I knew better
But it seems, I didn’t know anything
I thought, I knew better
But it seems, I didn’t know anything
And I never will
Circle or square,
Oh, Who really cares,
Which peg you might fit,
That hole in your chest you call pit.
In the end, it’s meaningless
In the end, it’s what you make of it.
I thought, I knew better
But it seems, I didn’t know anything
I thought, I knew better
But it seems, I didn’t know anything
I thought, I knew better
But it seems, I didn’t know anything
I knew, I knew better
I knew, I could conceive, everything
Wonderful writer and great musician, my love.
