It's Lonely on the Moon
It’s Lonely on the Moon ©2020 words and music Jeff Cole
A nostalgic memory of youth in the 70’s suburban bliss.
Swimming in our giant pool
made of aluminum.
to be that cool
to know again
You’ll never see a bluer sky
or smell a greener lawn
to wonder why
of better times than those
my friend
It’s lonely on the moon…..she said
Pointing random telescopes
out into the night
distant hope
of other life
Melting ice cream sandwiches
dripping to the ground
passing sweetness
it never makes a sound
my friend
It’s lonely on the moon……she said
We are headed towards the end
it’s just up around the bend
hear the gravel of the drive
there’s no traffic out today
‘cause it’s Sunday anyway
tell Aunt Jenna we said, “ Bye !”
Swinging screen doors violently
from the coming storm
“that was close !”
she smiles and says in our
wet clothes
It’s lonely on the moon…….she said
Love how this skips along. Nice chorus/hook. And that "Yeh, yeh, yeah..." before the middle 8 is just fabulous. Love it.
