This song was written and recorded to my phone in less than 15 minutes - it's the reason I ended up dropping the first 2 songs I recorded from my 2025 RPM effort , as they sucked compared to this. Lyrics I’m too tired to do anything I’m…

I composed this in MuseScore 4 as I wanted to test it out. I wrote it as a recorder quartet and intended to perform it myself, but I had trouble learning the sheet music for the different instruments. So I used four different presets from Arturia…

We are WGP!

Founded in Berlin in 1984 as a trio with Suman, WGP first explored the boundaries of electronic music with a series of early recordings — unreleased at the time, yet laying the groundwork for the project’s distinctive sound. After a long pause, Jørn and Thorsten reignited WGP in 2018, bringing fresh ideas and renewed energy. Since then, they have consistently challenged themselves with creative constraints, from time-limited composition challenges to concept-driven releases, shaping a body of work that is both disciplined and unpredictable.

WGP’s music thrives at the intersection of rhythm, sound design, and conceptual exploration. Built on steady pulses and looping structures, their tracks evolve into immersive soundscapes where textures, processed voices, and abstract sonic ideas are just as important as beat or melody. Every composition is carefully structured yet intentionally open, allowing rhythm and sound to breathe, shift, and surprise.

Language plays a central role in their sound. Spoken fragments, glitch-infused text, and machine-like phrases function as instruments, shaping rhythm, texture, and atmosphere. German titles and thematic cues frame each piece conceptually and culturally, while English text adds contrast, texture, and narrative ambiguity. Words in WGP’s universe are not traditional lyrics — they are sonic material, carrying meaning, tension, and texture as part of the composition itself.

Stylistically, WGP resists easy categorization. They navigate fast, glitch-driven bursts, midtempo rhythmic explorations, and slow, meditative soundscapes with equal confidence. Beats serve as frameworks rather than destinations, allowing conceptual and textural elements to dominate. The music engages both body and mind — accessible enough to move listeners physically while dense enough to challenge the intellect.

Underpinning all of WGP’s work is a DIY, experimental ethos. Constraints, whether self-imposed or prompted by creative challenges, inspire immediacy, inventiveness, and playfulness. Each track feels alive, present, and slightly off-center, exploring the tension between structure and freedom, concept and spontaneity, pulse and texture.

Genre? WGP exists between Experimental Electronic, IDM, Ambient/Soundscape, and Conceptual Electronica. If a single genre is needed, we call it Textural Conceptronica: music where rhythm, texture, and language converge, where conceptual framing guides composition, and where sound is as much about idea as experience.

Expect the unexpected. Step in, listen closely, and get ready to be surprised — WGP is thoughtful, experimental, and quietly provocative, inviting listeners into a world that is simultaneously cerebral and visceral.
