Flat Earth
am/fm dreams
Don’t shiver when it’s cold outside
Don’t confuse a sense of place with pride
We’re first to see by the dawn’s early light
From the desk of Mr. Hortense Binette
Change the stationary header make it say
“We’re all connected by the radio waves”
While i was mending fences, putting out fires
dressing casualties and changing tires
How did you make the moon so round?
When the earth is flat as paper bound in a book,
of wisdom from the ancient days
collecting dust up on the mantle place
not reading it , just keeping it in case
Photo album of our battle scars
February on a cheap guitar
sullen anthems for the aging rock star
And if the true north is no longer strong and free
adrift an ice flow on the Arctic sea
save a little room out there for me
While i was ticking boxes, breaking up fights
Singing lullabies and changing lives
and if the rising sun is coming back around
could you at least turn the volume down a little
we’re trying to hear the newscaster say
that “everything is gonna be OK
and this concludes our broadcast day”
