Toothpaste

spoon full of sugar in the mouth
far too sweet had to spit it out
now by bitterness replace
a winterfresh, peppermint taste

it still lingers on your breath
on your lips, the kiss of death
so have another piece of cake
wash it down with toothpaste

the city was in flames
you don’t see that everyday
so i’ll become a pillar of salt
looking back, it was my fault

ate a heart-shaped cinnamon
for the sake of trying it
but it was all a mistake
the bitter-sweetness of heartbreak

it still lingers on your breath
can’t put it back in the tube i guess
lost the cap, oh what a waste
won’t wash it down with toothpaste
