Agates In The Gravel
Greg Connor
Too many rainy days lately, so what is a boy to do? Write a song!
I’m walking down this country road to find some peace of mind
With every step I seem to take I leave the world behind
There’s agates in the gravel just waiting to be found
I’m walking down this country road, no one else around
I always seem to find myself on a road like this
Songbirds all around me and flowers in the ditch
Windy tree tops bend with the scent of Northern Pine
Walking down this gravel road to find some peace of mind
Now the Sun is burning off this morning’s gentle rain
I see those agates here and there glistening again
Agates in the gravel, they seem to call my name
Every time I pick one up I know my luck will change
I have my share of Irish luck but I tend to lose my way
These agates in the gravel seem to chase the blues away
I’m hoping that this road will lead to peace of mind
Agates in the gravel reflecting the sunshine
Sorry I was you guest commenter yesterday! I didn’t realize I wasn’t logged in. Great song by you!!!
I read all the lyrics before I had a chance to listen. Excellent poetry indeed. I wanted to know where you were finding that peaceful road. Somewhere north I’m guessing. Great melody and lovely arrangement. Another instant fav!!!
