Oh, Honey Bee

Raised by the wind, a cold stone rolling in
Tend to the flowers growing out of my skin
I want to live forever staring up at the sky
But what makes a day pass and old men cry
What’s a life, what made it worth reaching for
Oh, honey bee

A heart in the winter don’t melt through the ice
Threw yourself in the river to feel one more tide
Keep your head above the water long as you can
Till you settle like dust on an old tv stand
If I had half your strength, I’d pick the world up from under you
Oh, honey bee

Broke both my ankles when I tried grounding myself
Fingers round the telephone line outside my house
I’m a puddle on the street of mud and energy
You’re an autumn leaf breaking off of a tree
I can’t even bring myself to get out of bed
Oh, honey bee

Buried you near the old cemetery
Buried you with old pieces of me
Burning a handle of ol’ Tennessee
Burning a candle and old memories

Did you think about your family while you laid there and died
Or what you could’ve done if you bothered to try

Push pins and daises and saccharine dreams
I get lonely as hell waiting for the bell to ring
