“Twenty Four”
Lyrics and Music by Daniel Parkhill
I’m a poet and a lover and a son and a brother and a brick in the wall.
My patience was short but I’m learning the importance of starting out small.
Didn’t know where to begin cause I’m human in my skin but I didn’t show no fear.
People know me for my fame and they’re screaming out my name and I’m twenty four this year.
Open up your eyes, you have got to realize no one opens up your door.
Losing your appendages, negative percentages, shake it to the core.
There is never a vacation from the potent combination of blood, sweat and tears.
I did it my own way and I’m counting down the days till I’m twenty four this year.
People tell me that I’ve coined the term “major disappointment” and I’m not very smart.
I just tell them not to tempt me, my cup is half empty, I’m a pessimist at heart.
And when I reach my death and I draw my final breath and the time is drawing near,
I hope you listen to the story of the boy who reached his glory and he’s twenty four this year.
Now I’m twenty three and I’m living the dream.
When I’m twenty four I’ll be asking for more.
Now I’m twenty three and I’m living the dream.
When I’m twenty four I’ll be asking for more.
