Leave the Best Parts Out
Dweeb
Broke out my antique TR-707 for this, needed that basketball-on-asphalt kick drum sound. Nicely forces everything into 8-bar chunks but kinda forced me to do a fadeout. I think I managed a decent “bridge” on this.
Lyrics:
I met a mighty Englishman who finally figured out
The best way to write a song is to leave the best parts out
To really build an audience, leave them wanting more
Leave the hooks and choruses along the basement floor
Throw away, every day
Overflow, let it go
A one hit wonder puts it all inside a song
Burn bright and fade away, they’re doing something wrong
There is a secret way for building a career
Bring everybody close but never let them near
Throw…
Expanding this idea to cover all of life
Getting rid of happiness is getting of strife
All of those possessions that might bring a bit of joy
Take them all out in the yard and fervently destroy
Throw…
Rip it out and burn it up
Throw it on the fire
Giving everybody
Everything that they desire
In the month of february I try to make a song
Don’t wanna make catchy I don’t want a sing-a-long
All my dozen listeners will finally understand
I will give them even less than any other band
Throw…
I met…
Leave it on the basement floor…
