Well you did it again.
Ruined such a good thing.
We had it all in hand.
Might live like a king.

You just could not wait,
Could not follow the plan.
And we are back to being
A poor woman and a poor man.

We had the golden eggs
To make us rich one day.
But I guess you could not wait
And threw it all away.

You had to kill the goose
Just to see if it held gold.
And now we will be dirt poor
Long after we’re old.

Well you did it again.
Destroyed our success.
With a cut of the knife
You’ve made it all a mess.

One egg a day, we said,
Would make us rich one day.
But greed filled your heart
And the goose was made to pay.
