She Didn't Know

She Didn’t Know- So, someone I know got totally screwed over. The worst part was that her friends knew but didn’t tell her what was happening. I am not sure she will love the fact I wrote a song about it, but that is the least of her worries right now. Musically, I find it odd that I have made this a danceable number, but at the end of the day; it is a song of hope. No better way to express hope than to dance. I thought about making up a bunch of crap about this song for the blog, but screw it. With all the dishonesty that abounds, a little truth may be ok. Oh, and I doubt she reads the liner notes here. ;)

Musically the song was a done on my F-strat. It’s not what you think it means. I have my strat tuned two whole steps down so that the A shape chord is actually F. For example, the high E string (which is also tuned to F) is what would normally be the B string on a standard guitar. Both the low E and A are tuned in unison to F. It is strung up with SUPER heavy gauge strings, so that when I strum it has this deep and resonant KERANG sound. That logic follows all the way down the A string. I used it on Consequence last year, Way Too Long and 70 in 2008; Painted Tense and Trying To Get By in 2007. The riff came to me while just goofing on the guitar one afternoon, thinking about this person’s plight. Yes, I am the sort of person who plays guitar when something bothers me. In case you were wondering, I didn’t know either.

Saved!
