Hold On
Hold On- Ok, this one is really hard. Not in a rock sense, but other ways. Musically, this song really dances on the line of schmaltz, and a few times, trips over it. I had a hard time singing some of the lines, since I don’t have a pretty voice, and I think it would be better with a pretty delivery. That said, there are some dark, almost dissonant, harmonies in spots, and uplifting, open harmonies in other parts. That was intentional, since the song is for someone who doesn’t want to live anymore. How do you talk someone into not doing it? This also explains the trite nature of certain lines, since again, how do you talk someone into not doing it? I have no idea, so, instead a song that could plausibly end up on LITE 100 FM Soft Love Songs, complete with people only hearing the chorus and missing the intent of the song, kind of like what happened with Every Breath You Take by the Police back in ’83. Funny story actually, but I digress…
Just a brilliant track!
Great, great song. Love the vocal especially.
Fantastic! You really sing this well Gary.
Reminds me of You Never Give Me Your Money from Abbey Road. Excellent.
Great tune, Gary. Reminds me a bit of the Boo Radleys. Vocals are really nice, wouldn't know you struggled with any of it if you hadn't said. And personally I don't detect an ounce of schmaltz!
This song is really great, Gary. Underestimated, I should say. Excellent work!
This track is special. Really brilliant!
