NOBODY KNOWS ME
James Michael Taylor
Well, it’s like I went down town last night to see Guthrie playing with Ray and I came home with a song.
NOBODY KNOW ME IN TOWN ANY MORE Capo @ 1 in G
There’s a bird in the gutter that’s so sound asleep
He can’t hear the music that’s sweeping the street
That’s shaking the trees and selling the beer
Down town Fort Worth Texas, Yes, I am back here
I’m down here at the corner open case at my feet
This cowboy and his guitar just can’t compete
With some upstart from Dallas who preens on the stage
At a place called Amoeba which is this season’s rage
And nobody knows me in town any more
I guess I had my turn and now i am just bored
And I feel out of place maybe I’m getting old
And nobody knows me in town any more
I used to be someone when I’d come to town
I’d be up on that stage. Not down here on the ground
With two pretty ladies. One on each side
Now I stand here unnoticed just wanting to hide
And nobody knows me in town any more
I guess I had my turn but it’s over for sure
And I feel out of place baby I’m feeling cold
And nobody knows me in town any more
And now I’m alone. None to have none to hold
All them love stories in songs we once told
Came true or came false it don’t matter for sure
And nobody knows me in town any more
And nobody knows me in town any more
I guess I had my turn and now i’m so bored
And I feel out of place baby I’m feeling cold
And nobody knows me in town any more
Great song! I feel that way sometimes living in Denton. Faces are always changing in college towns.
I'd like to come with you sometime, maybe it'll give me inspiration too. Love your lyrics, and chorus especially, but it's all great.
Oh, rip my heart, James Michael. Brilliant!
nice :)
