THE PICNIC 101610 - NO MAN'S LAND
James Michael Taylor
THE PICNIC
The sun broke like glass on the water
The trees threw their shade on the sand
The ants ate the crumbs on the blanket
She ate the grapes from my hand
We didn’t know what we were doing
It all started off with a smile
And an innocent look was all that it took
da dada
The weight of the universe vanished
Like the dew on a newspaper lawn
And the sun of the morn’ like a dream being borne
Tell me if I’m being punished
Tell me if I’ve got it wrong
A total eclipse in the world on my lips (?)
Wrong, Wrong
Tell me there is a solution
Don’t tell me that hope is in vain
Because Hope without Faith and Love without Hope
Is a mighty long track with no train
Thinking about the dog that stays at the back of his pen at the pound because he already has a person, even if that person doesn’t want him.
I'm that dog.
