Was listening while making dinner to David Beardsley’s ‘The Forty Six Steps’ which is in Just Intonation. I’m continually fascinated by this alternative approach of creative composition and have been trying to understand off/on for years. To a small degree I think I do and this piece I created in Pure Data with thinking about JI, what David shared later by message (Thank You) and in looking at Kyle Gann’s website articles (Thank You) on JI and particularly this table, Anatomy of an Octave that I chose 5 random intervals from to base my experiment on 1/1, 121/120, 65/64, 74/73 and 57/55. Triggering the frequencies in PD was via multiple metro objects over a time spread of 5000 to 8000ms.
